Some couples want blue skies and golden hour. Kiley and Axel wanted snow and Mt. Hood delivered in the best possible way.

We headed up to Timberline Lodge for their winter engagement session on a day when the snow was falling fast and the wind had a little something to say about it. And honestly? It was perfect. There is something about shooting in a real Oregon snowstorm that strips away any trace of stiffness. You can't be self-conscious when snow is blowing sideways into your face and your dog is losing his mind with joy.

Timberline Lodge is one of my absolute favorite locations for engagement sessions, weddings and elopements on Mt. Hood. The iconic historic lodge provides a stunning backdrop in every season, but in winter it transforms into something truly cinematic. Deep snow fields, snow-loaded evergreens, and that wide open alpine sky that makes even a grey stormy day feel dramatic and beautiful. Speaking of Kiley and Axel! These two were made for this location. They came dressed for the mountain (those layered sweaters and boots were absolutely the right call), they were completely unbothered by the cold, and they were genuinely, effortlessly themselves in front of the camera from the very first frame. The laughter was real, the connection was real, and their dog, who was clearly having the best day of his entire life, stole more than a few shots. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding at the Loloma Lodge outside of Eugene, Oregon this coming June!
