Loloma Lodge sits along the Mackenzie River outside Eugene, Oregon, and it is one of those venues that immediately tells you the day is going to be good. The property is a cluster of rustic riverside cabins, and for Kylie and Axel's June wedding, their whole crew stayed on site together. Not just the wedding party but actual family, from all over, piled into those cabins and settled in for the weekend. That kind of gathering changes the feeling of a wedding day completely.
I knew we were in the right place when some of the guys kicked off the morning by jumping off the riverbank into the water. Cold water, June runoff water, with full commitment. That was the energy for the whole day.
What makes Loloma Lodge a great Oregon wedding venue?
Loloma Lodge gives you something most venues can't: the whole property to yourselves, for a weekend. Your family isn't driving in from a hotel an hour away. They're already there, sitting around the fire the night before, wandering to the river in the morning. Jumping in by the afternoon… By the time the ceremony starts, everyone is already loose and happy and together. As an Oregon wedding photographer, I can tell you that your photos come out differently when people are that relaxed.
The Mackenzie River runs right through the property and the old growth surrounds everything. It is genuinely beautiful without any decoration at all, which means the photos do the work they're supposed to do.
