How to Elope on Mt. Hood

Your Guide to an All-Inclusive Adventure Elopement on Oregon’s Mt Hood.

Bride and groom stand by Frog Lake with Mt. Hood in the background during their intimate elopement in Oregon.

A bride and groom share a quiet moment by Frog Lake, with Mt. Hood’s majestic peak as their backdrop. Captured by Studio 623 Photography, this intimate adventure elopement showcases the serene beauty of Oregon’s mountains. Perfect for couples seeking a stress-free, nature-filled wedding day.

You’ve decided to elope — and you want it to feel like you. Not a courthouse quickie, not a watered-down wedding. A real, intentional celebration of your love in one of the most breathtaking landscapes on the planet: the Pacific Northwest.

But if you’re not from here, where do you even start?

That’s exactly why I’ve partnered with Bows + Arrows Social Co. to offer all-inclusive adventure elopement experiences across Oregon. From the snow dusted meadows of Mt. Hood to the dramatic cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge and the wild, windswept Oregon Coast.

Between my 20+ years behind the camera (425+ weddings photographed!) and the Bows + Arrows team’s expertise in curated event planning, coordination, and design — you get a stress-free elopement that looks and feels absolutely incredible, without having to figure out a single thing on your own.

Why Elope in Oregon?

Oregon is, hands down, one of the most stunning elopement destinations in the country. Within a few hours’ drive, you can say your vows:

On Mt. Hood where you will be surrounded by alpine wildflowers at one of the many high mountain lakes, like Trillium, Lost Lake, or Frog Lake, or historic elegance at Timberline Lodge.

And because Oregon has no sales tax and relatively simple permit processes for elopements, it’s a dream destination for couples flying in from out of state.

What Does an All-Inclusive Elopement Look Like?

This isn’t DIY. This is a full-service experience built around you.

Photography by Studio 623 Photography (starting at $1,499):

Pre-elopement planning consultation and location scouting. Full-day coverage of your adventure — getting ready, first look, ceremony, portraits, and golden hour. A professionally edited gallery of every moment. Optional videography add-on to relive the day in motion.

Planning and Coordination by Bows + Arrows Social Co.:

Venue and location sourcing across Mt. Hood, the Gorge, and the Coast. Permit coordination and vendor management. Curated event design and specialty rentals. Day-of coordination so you’re fully present, not managing logistics. Options for micro weddings (up to 50 guests) or intimate elopements (up to 6 guests).

Together, we handle everything — so all you have to do is show up and say “I do.”

Real Elopements We’ve Captured

I’ve had the honor of photographing elopements and intimate weddings in some of Oregon’s most iconic locations. Here are a few recent favorites:

Frog Lake, Mt. Hood — A dreamy alpine elopement surrounded by wildflowers and towering pines, with a ceremony right at the water’s edge.

Timberline Lodge, Mt. Hood — A spring wedding with panoramic mountain views at one of Oregon’s most iconic venues.

Skibowl, Mt. Hood — A summer wedding nestled in the forest with a fun, laid-back mountain vibe.

Winter Elopement on Mt. Hood — A romantic, snow-covered styled shoot proving that winter elopements on the mountain are absolutely magical.

Tips for Your Mt. Hood Elopement

Best months: Late June through September for wildflowers and accessible alpine trails. Winter for moody, snow-covered magic.

What to wear: Flowy fabrics photograph beautifully in the mountain breeze. Layers are smart — mountain weather changes fast.

Oregon marriage license: Available from any Oregon county clerk. No waiting period, no residency requirement. Easy for out-of-state couples.

Permits: Forest Service permits are required for ceremonies on National Forest land. We handle this for you.
