Abbey and Nick’s Summer Wedding at Mt. Hood Center | Boring, Oregon Wedding Photographer

Some weddings just feel like summer. Abbey and Nick’s day at Mt. Hood Center was one of them. Golden light spilling through the pines, a red, white, and blue bouquet, and a goldendoodle in a tiny tux bandana who took his job very seriously. Days like this are exactly why I love being a Mt. Hood Center wedding photographer.

Where is Mt. Hood Center?

Mt. Hood Center is in Boring, Oregon, about 30 minutes from downtown Portland on the way toward the mountain. The property covers 18 acres of landscaped grounds, with stone garden paths, towering pines, and one very famous hand painted quilt wall. It sits right in my backyard here in the Sandy and Mt. Hood corridor, so I know the light on this property in every season.

What is a wedding at Mt. Hood Center like?

A wedding at Mt. Hood Center can be almost anything you want it to be, with indoor and outdoor spaces that host anywhere from 4 to 450 guests. There is a garden ceremony space framed by greenery and flower garlands, a greenhouse with big rolling barn doors, a ballroom for dancing indoors, and a patio backed by giant black and white quilt blocks. That quilt wall might be my favorite backdrop in the entire Portland area. Wedding party photos pop against it. First dances glow in front of it once the string lights come on.

What was Abbey and Nick’s summer wedding day like?

Abbey and Nick’s day was garden vows, greenhouse kisses, and a first dance under string lights in front of that quilt wall. Abbey walked down the aisle hand in hand with family, carrying a bouquet of red, white, and blue blooms. Nick’s face when she reached him said everything. The wedding party wore soft pastels, mint and dusty blue and coral, and the groomsmen revealed matching custom pink socks that got exactly the laugh they deserved. Their goldendoodle joined for portraits in a little tux bandana. By golden hour the whole property glowed, and the two of them snuck away for a quiet drink and a kiss on the garden deck. Abbey and Nick, thank you for letting me stand in the middle of all that joy.

Why book Mt. Hood Center for an Oregon wedding?

Mt. Hood Center works because it gives you built in beauty, flexible spaces, and a real weather backup plan. Tables and chairs come included with wedding packages, you can bring in your own vendors, and the greenhouse and ballroom mean an Oregon rain shower never ruins the plan. You get garden portraits, that graphic quilt wall, and mountain country charm all in one place, half an hour from Portland.
