Brand new and already the boss of the whole studio. Stevie came in for her newborn session with her mom, her dad, and one very proud big sister, and between the snuggles and the tiny yawns we made the kind of photographs a family holds onto forever.

What is a lifestyle newborn session?

A lifestyle newborn session is a relaxed, cuddly alternative to hours of strict posing. The session moves at baby’s pace in the bright white studio, with feeding breaks, outfit changes, and plenty of time in mom and dad’s arms, plus a couple of simple basket and wrap setups once baby drifts off to sleep. The result is a gallery that looks like the sweetest version of real life, tiny toes, milk drunk grins, and all.

What was Stevie’s newborn session like?

Stevie slept through some of it, stared straight into the camera for the rest of it, and let her big sister steal a few scenes in between. Big sis wore her BIG SIS tee and held her baby sister so carefully on the couch while mom and dad stayed close. We made family portraits by the lace curtained windows, quiet frames of mama soothing her newest girl, and detail shots of impossibly tiny feet. Stevie finished the session tucked into a wicker basket lined with rose colored fur, wearing a peach tutu that nearly swallowed her whole, and she did not mind one bit.

Should you bring siblings to a newborn session?

Yes, a thousand times yes. Sibling photos become family treasures, and the session is built so older kids can come in, be celebrated, snuggle the baby for a few frames, and then go play. Stevie’s big sister was gentle, proud, and clearly thrilled about her new title, and the photos of the two girls together are some of my favorites from the whole gallery.

When should you book newborn photos?

Ideally while you are still pregnant, so your due date holds a soft spot on the calendar. Lifestyle newborn sessions are flexible, and anywhere in the first few weeks works beautifully, which takes the pressure off a recovering family. If your baby has already arrived, reach out anyway. There is no expiration date on documenting a brand new person.
