Fall Mini Sessions on a Farm in Eagle Creek | Sandy Oregon Family Photographer
Sunday, October 4, 2026 was fall mini day at Studio 623, and it turned out to be one of those October afternoons that makes the whole season worth the wait. Six families, one farm in Eagle Creek just down the road from Sandy, and three hours of warm light that slid from bright afternoon into a deep golden sunset. I am Becky Chambers, a Sandy Oregon family photographer, and these quick sessions are some of my favorite work of the year.
What are fall mini sessions with Studio 623?
A fall mini is a short, relaxed family session, about fifteen minutes, photographed at one location I have already scouted for the best light. There is no wardrobe planning call, no long shot list, and no need to keep little ones happy for an hour. You show up, we walk to a few spots I have picked out, and we are done before anyone gets tired. Every family goes home with a full online gallery of edited photos, which is the same care my full family photo sessions get, just in a smaller window of time.
Where did this year's fall minis take place?
This year's minis were on a working farm in Eagle Creek, about ten minutes from Sandy. The farm has a weathered wood farmhouse with wide porch steps, a row of apple trees still hanging with fruit, roses that were somehow still blooming along the garden fence, and a big open lawn under old maples. I keep the exact address for booked families, but if you have driven the back roads between Sandy and Estacada in the fall, you know the feeling: long shadows, dry grass, and a little bit of wood smoke in the air.
What was Sunday, October 4, 2026 like?
The first family stepped onto the porch at 3:30 in the afternoon with the sun still high and bright, and the last family finished just after 6:00 as it dropped behind the trees. In between there were toddlers chasing each other through the orchard, a big sister kissing her little brother on the cheek, teenagers who claimed they did not want to be there and then laughed the hardest, and parents who finally got a photo where everyone was looking at the camera at the same time. Every gallery was edited and online the next day, between 100 and 150 finished photos per family.
What should my family wear for fall photos on a farm?
Soft, warm colors photograph beautifully against weathered wood and fall foliage. This year the families who looked the most at home wore cream, blush, rust, navy, and denim, with one person in a small floral print to tie it together. Layers help too: a denim jacket or a cardigan gives you a second look in two minutes. Skip bright white and busy logos, and let the kids wear shoes they can actually run in. If you are unsure, send me a photo of the outfits laid out on the bed and I will tell you what to swap.
Are Christmas tree farm sessions open yet?
Yes. Christmas tree farm sessions are booking now for November, and they are the most popular dates on my calendar every year. They work just like the fall minis: a short session among the trees, warm light, and a gallery you will have in plenty of time for holiday cards. The farm fills on weekends first, so if you have a specific date in mind, send me an inquiry here and I will reply within one business day with what is still open.
Can I still book Class of 2027 senior photos this fall?
You can. October and early November are the best months for senior portraits near Sandy, with color in the trees and softer light all afternoon. If your senior wants the farm, Mt. Hood, the river, or the studio, we can mix locations in one session. Tell me a little about them on my inquiry form and I will send over dates and pricing.
Looking for a Sandy Oregon family photographer?
I would love to photograph your family this fall. Outdoor family sessions, Christmas tree farm photos, and Class of 2027 senior sessions are all open right now, and the fastest way to grab a date is to fill out my inquiry form. If you are planning something bigger, I also photograph small weddings and elopements on the mountain, and you can read all about that on my Mt. Hood elopement photography page. Thank you to the six families who spent their Sunday afternoon with me on the farm. I hope to see you soon.
