A Downtown Portland Engagement Session for Rick + Mason

Rick and Mason are getting married at Mt. Hood Skibowl this summer, so they flew all the way from the East Coast to knock out some final wedding planning details including their engagement session in downtown Portland. Being based out near Mt. Hood, I don't venture into the big city all that often, but every time I do, the outcome is fantastic.

Rick and Mason brought along a gorgeous bouquet from one of my favorite Portland Florists, Geranium Lake Flowers and Events. I loved the pop of color the fresh blooms provided!

Starting at the Waterfront

We kicked things off down by the Willamette under one of those gorgeous gnarled trees you only find along the river. The marina behind them, the soft late afternoon light filtering through the new spring leaves. Portland was absolutely showing off. These two were so easy in front of the camera right out of the gate, which honestly makes my whole job easier.

Garden Light and Pretty Florals

For the second half of the session we headed into one of my favorite tucked-away green spaces in the city. You can’t ask for more with stunning orange and coral bouquet, soft layered light, reflective pools, quiet little bench under the trees, and a couple who genuinely could not stop smiling at each other.

And Then There's Bo

A session is never quite complete without the four legged member of the family. Bo knew the cameras were on him and he didn’t want to be left out. He had a great time sniffing every leaf in the garden, taking himself for a little walk down the sidewalk, and of course ending up in some of my favorite frames of the entire afternoon.

A House Divided in the Best Way

Spend some time with Rick and Mason and you'll find out pretty quickly that one of them is a Michigan man and the other loves Oregon green. I love when couples bring real pieces of their personality to a session so that we can create images that are unique to you.

One Last Stop Before the Sunset

We wrapped up back near the water as the city softened into evening with boats, bridges, a quiet kiss, and that beautiful Portland riverfront skyline behind them.
